The basketball world mourns the loss of 29-year-old Canadian forward Brandon Clark, who played for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 206-cm tall forward joined Memphis after being selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 21st pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, then traded to the Grizzlies. In 2019, he was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the NBA Summer League and also MVP of that year’s tournament final.
In 2019, Clark was selected to the third-team All-American of the NCAA tournament. His best NBA season was his rookie year in 2019-2020, where he appeared in 58 games (four starts), averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 0.9 turnovers per game. In the 2021-2022 season, he played a career-high 64 games for the team.
In the 2025-2026 season, he appeared in just two games, averaging 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per contest. Clark’s sudden passing at such a young age has left the basketball community in shock and sorrow.
