The Denver Broncos made a pair of roster moves on Tuesday, corresponding to the signings of two players who impressed during the team’s recent rookie minicamp. The team awarded free-agent contracts to wide receiver Michael Woods II and cornerback Paul Manning, forcing them to release two players to make room. Those cuts were former Dallas Cowboys running back Deuce Vaughn and cornerback William Wright.
Wright, who signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee following the 2026 NFL Draft, became expendable after the team signed Manning, a cornerback from Division II Henderson State. The Broncos now have two other undrafted cornerbacks on their 90-man roster: Brent Austin from California and Ahmari Harvey from Georgia Tech.
Wright played 45 games during his college career at Tennessee, recording two interceptions last season, including one he returned 35 yards for a touchdown. However, at 6-foot and 190 pounds, he is considered slightly undersized and faced an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster given Denver’s depth in the secondary. Manning stood out during the team’s three-day minicamp and essentially took Wright’s spot.
Wright will now hope another team has an opening on its 90-man roster so he can participate in training camp this summer.
