In the early hours of May 11, Beijing time, the Chinese men’s national table tennis team triumphed over Japan with a 3-0 sweep in the final of the 2026 London World Table Tennis Team Championships. This victory marks the team’s 12th consecutive world championship title in the men’s team event.


In the first match, Liang Jingkun staged a remarkable comeback after losing the first two games, winning three straight to defeat Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto 3-2. This crucial win gave China a 1-0 lead.
In the second match, Wang Chuqin rallied from behind to defeat Matsushima Sora 3-1, extending China’s lead to 2-0.
In the third match, Lin Shidong secured the championship with a 3-1 victory over Tomokazu Harimoto’s teammate, Yuto Togami, sealing the 3-0 overall win for China.
This victory also marked the second consecutive China-Japan face-off decided in China’s favor, as the Chinese women’s team had previously defeated Japan to win the women’s team title.
