The Egyptian national team has hit back at Saudi journalist Waleed Al-Faraj over his comments regarding Mohamed Salah’s potential move to the Saudi Pro League. Salah, the Liverpool star and captain of the Pharaohs, has sparked speculation about his future after announcing he will leave Anfield at the end of the current season, ending a remarkable run in the Premier League.

The Egyptian superstar has been a target for Saudi clubs in recent years, but no deal has materialized so far. Al-Faraj, a well-known Saudi media figure, wrote on his X account earlier Tuesday: “I wish the great star Mohamed Salah a perfect end to his inspiring career in England. Staying in Europe or America would suit him better than playing in the Middle East.”

He added: “Salah no longer fits future Riyadh Season plans. He would demand what he was offering three years ago, but our fans are unforgiving, and I don’t think he needs that pressure now.”

In response, Mohamed Morad, media coordinator for the Egyptian national team, strongly refuted those remarks. “Mr. Waleed, after Salah’s long, glorious history and record-breaking achievements in the undisputed strongest league in the world, he does not need anyone’s advice. He knows exactly what he is doing,” Morad said on Facebook.

Morad continued: “Clubs in the Saudi Pro League have wanted to sign Salah for the past three years, and there is no doubt he would have added a lot to the league.” Salah is now preparing to lead Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
