
The NCAA Softball Division I committee announced the 64-team field that will compete for a spot in the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets earned their places in the tournament. Georgia received the No. 10 overall national seed and will host the Athens regional at Turner Softball Stadium, featuring Clemson, UNC Greensboro, and the College of Charleston.
Georgia will open play against Charleston on Friday at 7 p.m. The winner of the Athens regional will advance to face the winner of the Knoxville regional in the super regionals.
During the ESPN Selection Show, Georgia Tech was listed as one of the final four teams to make the field. The Yellow Jackets will compete in the Gainesville regional, hosted by the No. 6 national seed Florida. Georgia Tech’s first game is against Texas State on Friday at 1:30 p.m. The Gainesville regional winner will then face the winner of the Lubbock regional.
The tournament structure includes double-elimination regionals, best-of-three super regionals with the higher seed hosting, and a double-elimination World Series with a best-of-three championship series.
